Jermaine House is the director of communications for safety and justice issues at the Urban Institute, working closely with Urban’s Justice Policy Center.

Before joining Urban, House built and led the marketing + communications department at HIT Strategies, a prominent public opinion data research company based in Washington, DC. His leadership and expertise were instrumental in elevating the company's national profile, helping in grow beyond the start-up stage. Prior to HIT Strategies, House worked in leadership roles with notable political figures and organizations, including several members of Congress and the DC Council, the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture, Obama for America, and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, leading communications for highly competitive congressional races across Delaware, Florida, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia.

House’s insights on public opinion data and American politics have been prominently featured in the Washington PostPolitico, the Wall Street JournalThe HillUSA Today, and the New York Times.

House is a graduate of Morehouse College.
