I am inspired by both the timeliness and historical significance of work at the Urban Institute. I am grateful to contribute to its purposeful research in my areas of interest while expanding my understanding of social welfare policy and practice.
Martha Johnson was an Urban Institute associate in the Income and Benefits Policy Center. She worked with the center’s transfer income model TRIM3, which enables state and national policy analyses at the level of the individual. Collaborating with Urban’s Metropolitan Housing and Communities Policy Center and the Center on Labor, Human Services, and Population, she also works on place-based projects on topics such as the Washington, DC, minimum wage, absenteeism in DC preschools, and homeless policy in New York City.
Johnson graduated from the University of Michigan with a BA in economics.
