Sandra Ambrozy is a nonresident fellow for the Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy at the Urban Institute, bringing nearly 40 years of experience in philanthropy and strong expertise in human services, arts and culture, green buildings, and civil legal justice. She works with public- and social-sector partners to advance a generative civil justice system that is fair, accountable, and accessible for all. Ambrozy is also a fellow at the Full Frame Initiative, a social change organization working toward a country where everyone has a fair shot at well-being. She is a current board member of the Michigan Municipal League Foundation and is on the project advisory boards for the Self-Represented Litigation Network and LIFT Dane in Wisconsin.
Previously, Ambrozy was a senior fellow and senior program officer at the Kresge Foundation, where she developed strategic and layered investments to address critical issues, including access to civil legal support, climate change, and economic mobility, in close partnership with stakeholders. She has deep experience in activating a range of grantmaking tools, from capital challenge grants to enterprise-level supports and social impact investments. She is a LEED-accredited professional (US Green Building Council) and a graduate of Tufts University, where she focused on Asian studies and Mandarin Chinese.

And Urban welcomes visiting scholars, nonresident or affiliated fellows who work for other organizations. These outside affiliations enrich our perspectives and our learning environment. We also require all paid and unpaid experts to disclose their affiliations to Urban leadership and follow rules governing their engagement to ensure transparency for audiences and independence of experts.
